Welcome back Seahawks!
We are so excited to see everyone tomorrow, August 10th, for the first day of school! Below are a few important reminders to help with a successful start to the 2026-2027 school year.
🔔 Morning Bell Schedule: The doors open for students at 6:50 am, our car rider gate closes at 7:10 am, and the tardy bell rings at 7:15 am.
🤗 First Day of School: If you were planning to walk your child, please give that last hug and well wishes for the day at our front lobby. Our Seahawk Staff will ensure students make it safely to class as this wonderful new school year begins.
🚌 Make sure your teachers knows how your child goes home on Monday (and all week long). Check the MyRideK12 app or website! (Info available in the SRCSD Back to School Resources below)
🥗 Now is a great time to log into MySchoolBucks to add any money to your child’s lunch account and pay any activity fees. Apply for free/reduced lunch early at https://www.myschoolapps.com
😴 Help students set their new bedtime routine to ensure they are rested and ready for each school day. We recommend 20 minutes of reading time each night before bed.
📱Stay connected throughout the school year for important announcements, events, and updates! Follow the HNIS Facebook page and download the SRCDS App for school wide and classroom specific communication. We will also send a detailed e-mail and text to you weekly with upcoming dates & reminders.

Seahawks SOAR through another great year at HNI!
Two students from each class were selected by their teachers to silly string Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Diebolt today.
We are proud of the hard work our Seahawks displayed this year and we hope all of our students have a wonderful summer!

Today we will highlight the public library's reading program:
Dig into adventure this summer with the Santa Rosa County Library System’s “Unearth a Story” Summer Reading Program.
Patrons of all ages are invited to stop by their local library to pick up a Summer Reading log and participate in a scavenger hunt inspired by this year’s theme. Participants who complete the scavenger hunt will receive a brag tag, while supplies last.
The Summer Reading Program will begin June 1 and end July 18.
For more information or to print your reading log for the program, visit https://www.santarosa.fl.gov/923/Summer-Reading .
Don't forget to visit the Navarre library branch on Thursdays at 11:00 am for the K-5 Summer Reading Programs! Program themes can also be found on the public library site linked above. We are lucky to have the public library VERY close to HNIS! It can be found at 8484 James M. Harvell Road .
Tune in on Friday for a highlight of the HNIS Beanstack summer reading challenge!

We are so proud of our 'Battle of the Books' team from Ms. King's fifth grade class- on Tuesday of this week they participated in the Santa Rosa County Battle of the Books competition. They worked as a team to read all 15 SSYRA books this year and did a wonderful job at the trivia competition. These students displayed exemplary teamwork and were great models for good sportsmanship.
We also wanted to give a shout out to Ms. Ganahl's third grade class and Ms. Maher's fourth grade class for winning their HNI Battle of the Books grade level competitions earlier this month. Way to SOAR Seahawks!
