HNIS Weekly News: 8/30/26

Good afternoon, Seahawk Families!

Here are the important upcoming dates and reminders:

Testing for Session 1 of the statewide progress monitoring assessments begins this week. It is very important that your child arrive at school on time during these dates since we will begin testing sessions promptly each day.

3rd Grade September 3rd and 4th

4th Grade September 9th and 10th

5th Grade September 15th and September 16th

Our Department of Health nurses will be offering the nasal flu mist at our school on November 10th. Your student was sent home with consent forms and an information packet. The consent form is a front and back page that must be completed and returned to the school no later than Tuesday September 8th for your student to receive the nasal flu mist. No student will receive the vaccine without a properly completed consent form.

Parents, save the date for our school wide Open House on September 22nd from 4:30-6:30pm. We hope all families will be able to make it!

Also, mark on your calendars that picture day this year will be on Wednesday, September 23rd.

Parents of our morning car riders, please do not let your student out of the car until 6:50. We have had students waiting at the door and it is a safety concern. Also, please make sure your student is ready to exit their vehicle when you enter car rider line and students need to exit once your car gets to the first basketball hoop. We are trying to ensure that all students get to class on time while still being safe. Thank you for your cooperation!

Have a wonderful long weekend, and as always, Seahawks S.O.A.R. high at HNI!

HNIS WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS: 8/16

We had a fantastic first week of school, and it was so great having your children back in the building! We look forward to an amazing year!

Just a few important reminders for our car rider families. Our gates close promptly at 7:10am. If you arrive after that time, please park in the front of the school and escort your child into the front office with a state issued id. Also, our students will now be counted tardy if they are not in their classroom at 7:15am. Lastly, to streamline the process, please make sure that your student is ready to exit the vehicle when you enter the car rider line. The car rider line starts at the first basketball hoop pole. This will make it quicker for all HNI families. We appreciate your effort with this!

Please make sure to send all completed forms that were included in your Beginning of the Year packet back to school with your child this week if you haven't already. This includes your volunteer application that must be approved by the school board before volunteering is allowed. Our annual Volunteer Orientation is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26th at 7:30am in the school cafeteria.

White SAC ballots will be going home with your student tomorrow the 17th of August. Please make sure to return them back no later than August 19th at 2pm. Once our new SAC team is elected, we will meet on Tuesday, August 25th at 1:45pm in the HNIS Media Center. As always, all are invited to attend, and our SAC records can be found in our Front Office during school hours. You can also find our agendas and approved minutes on the HNIS website.

To eliminate confusion at the end of the day, early check-outs must occur prior to 1:00p.m. Also, all transportation changes must be made in writing prior to 12p.m., except in the cases of an emergency. Transportation changes will not be taken verbally or over the phone. Changes can be sent in with your child, or via the HNIS website by clicking on the yellow transportation change button. Please do not email your child’s teacher with this information.

Don’t forget that we are asking parents to wait until September 8th to schedule lunch visits with your children. This will give us time to settle into our new school year with some time to establish our lunchroom procedures before encouraging parent visits.

Please pencil the following dates into your calendar for our state FAST PM1 testing:

Third Grade
Thursday, September 3rd - ELA
Friday, September 4th - Math

Fourth Grade
Wednesday, September 9th - ELA
Thursday, September 10th - Math

Fifth Grade
